I just bought a trombone off the internet. Condition is unclear, but it was very cheap, so I am okay if it ends up as decoration ;)

The seller didn't have any more information about it. All I know is from the pictures.

It is (mostly) silver plated with an engraving on the bell saying "ARTIST".

Due to this I would expect it to be American or British.

Looks like a small bell, bore and receiver.

Would be great if any of you have an idea of what it is.

Based on the left handed slide, I would suspect that it is not an American or British design. Did it come with white gloves?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not more than a trombone-shaped decoration - let's see how my wife reacts.

Pictures that I have until now are not great as you can see and the person selling couldn't say anything regarding functional aspects and condition...

Looks like something from the Kraslice/Markneukirchen area. Really small bore - notice how far out the mouthpiece seats?

Just want to give a small update after I received it:

There is no clear signs of the manufacturer that I could find.

Maybe I have a better idea of the origin when looking at some bell engravings online...

Regarding bore size it's not too small, considerably bigger than my alto.

I don't have one here, but I would expect it's in the King 2B area.

Mouthpiece receiver is standard small shank, good fit to e.g. Yamaha small shank pieces.

The mouthpiece that came with it simply has a slightly larger shank which doesn't really fit.

The bell material feels really heavy same as the instrument itself.

Sound is surprisingly nice and also "heavy" for such a small instrument.

Response is good in all relevant registers from pedals to high F and above.

So I am overall positive, it's definitely not a low quality instrument although it has quite some signs of use and age.

Only real downside is the slide action. It's slow and noisy - maybe another more intense cleaning will help here.

As obviously slide action is critical, this in the end might be a showstopper for me.

Let's see.

BTW: Including shipping within Germany it was only 100 Euro, so results could have been much worse.
