Ugh. Great band, great orchestrating, etc. but I can't get behind the artificial sounding reverb here. So many CD releases of "classic" albums are practically ruined by overzealous engineers. I just got the CD version that sounds just like this Youtube upload - does anyone know if the LP is different in this regard?

I found a friend who had an LP of this album - as I thought, it sounded much better and IMHO primarily as a result of much less "engineering". I think that had much more of an effect than the actual medium of LP vs. CD encoding.

As I learn more about recordings, I guess it becomes frustrating to find out that some albums are noticeably different when released in different platforms, and other CD releases are pretty good - but which is which is hard to predict. Kind of the same frustration as with Star Wars fans and Lucas refusing to release the original Star Wars edit on DVD/Blue-ray.
