Hi
I have a Yamaha YSL684 (bought in 1986).
When searching on the net, I find references to both YSL-684 and 684G.
Does anybody know the difference(s) between these two horns?
My second questions is, if there is anybody who knows this instrument; what is the successor or current model which is similar to the one I have? I am considering buying a new instrument, and since I have been very happy with my Yamaha, I do not consider another make/brand.
Thanks!

684 has a 1 piece yellow brass bell. 684G has a 1 piece gold brass bell. They are identical in all other aspects. I have its larger sibling, the 682G.
The 684 has been replaced by the 640.
Why do you need to replace it?
By the way, I moved the topic to Instruments, where it really belongs.

Thanks for answering, and for moving it to the correct category.
I do not need replace it. It's probably just vanity ;-).

The way I see it, the 600 series was stepped down just a tad, and now have plasma welded two piece bells.
The YSL-682G, which is .547 bore, was replaced with both the YSL-620 and the YSL-882O, which is available with both gold and yellow brass bell flares.
