If you're on a tight budget and you're looking for a versatile F-attachment horn, here's a good option: a mid-sixties H.N. White King Symphony 1480 in good playable condition.
These King Symphony models, with 9" bell and .547 bore, are known for their versatility, and I've never experienced another horn that responded so dramatically to mouthpiece changes. With a 1.5G, it puts out a very passable small bass sound, but with a 6.5AL or smaller, the sound really brightens up and becomes very focused.
This horn has been overhauled a couple of times, and although it's no beauty queen, it's a good solid player. The slide is conservatively 7.5/10 (could be made better), and the valve action smooth and quiet. There are dings and crease removal and spot lacquering throughout but no major dents. There are a few re-soldered joints but everything is nice and tight with no leaks.
Comes with an old but functional padded nylon gig bag with leather handles. You will need a good attitude regarding patina.
