I found a Hisonic tenor in a soft case for sale. It is a Chinese stencil similar to those going for $100 to $150 brand new. The slide had a major dent in it, but otherwise it didn't look bad. I figured what the heck, paid $20. Took it to my tech - the solder job was so bad one of the outer slides one was held into the crook by just the lacquer, none of the solder penetrated the joint. Could buy a new one for less than fixing it. Hey, I got a floor lamp donor plus a usable case, no name mouthpiece, and a Superslick setup for cheap.

Here is a twist. Guy I played last week was playing a Conn Vocabell. His wife found it in a junk sale. He thought someone cut the rim off the bell. He drilled a hole in the tubing slide to let water drain and they were using it for a flower planter for a couple years. Once he realized what it was he had the TS patched, slide restored, and now plays it instead of using it as a TSO planter.
