Wow. I didn't hear about this. Sad to hear. I know what I'm having my students listen to this week...what a player. Thanks for letting me/us know.

Bill Watrous passed away peacefully at 7:30pm (PDT) on Monday, July 2, 2018.

Bill was admitted to the hospital recently, and tests discovered he had several medical complications that had caused his declining health.

Please pray for his wife, Mary Ann, and his son Jason as they grieve the loss of their beloved husband and dad.

Heard this last night and was greatly saddened. I’ll be cranking up some Manhattan Wildlife Refuge this evening for sure.

When I was in school (70s/80s) Watrous came to a local state college and put on a clinic. He made a huge impression on me. I always think of him in one of his paisley tunics and that John Lennon haircut. And of course his effortless range and the way tuneful solos just flowed out of him.

Wow.... that's some really nice playing. Thanks for posting it.

I have some tapes from the early ITW's and ETW's in the '70's but I don't know what condition they're in.

He came out to El Paso in '81 I believe and gave a clinic/talk at UTEP that just blew everyone away! Such a generous & outgoing man!! He could've talked & answered questions all day!

Then got to hear him that night in a club with a combo backing him up, just unbelieveable musicianship!!

What a guy!!

I listen him both playing and telling stories long time ago. Memories that will always stay. A true legend!

And inspiration!!!
