We have a (now elderly) friend, Peter, here in Southern California whose father, a fine concert violinist when he was young, realized he couldn't compete on stage, so he became Jascha Heifetz's artistic manager (and subsequently managed the careers of Vladimir Horowitz, Gregor Piatigorsky, and José Iturbi). We have heard many tales from Peter of their relationship with Heifetz, which was warm and friendly, and of the chamber music in their living room with all of them playing together just for fun. 8-)
