Anyone else running 1000 K this summer?
I’m one of those stuck at home so running a virtual race the length of Tennessee, for the next four months, seemed like a good idea. I started on logging the miles for this today. The race registration numbers really blew up on the last day (about 12000 and counting) so I figured someone else on here is probably involved in this thing. Any one else trying this?

When you get to East TN, you can run the Barkley Marathon.
That’s long way on a treadmill. Have fun.

Fortunately, we’re in an area that isn’t in lock down, just “distanced”. My workplace is just shut down, so I don’t have to treadmill this out.
As for The Barkley... that’s a special kind of crazy (mixed with mad skills and fitness) that I just don’t have.
Oh, it’s 6:30 AM! Gotta run...really. I’m gonna run right now!

I don't get it. You pay for running 1000km at home?

Sounds like a great concept :-)
But more seriously, is the money used for a good cause or something? Didn't catch anything.

A sizable portion of the proceeds (over $100 000) are going to Feed USA Tennessee (a food bank organization) and all profits from the dog division (yes dogs are officially racing) go to animal shelters in Tennessee.
The other part is that the Race Director (Laz Lake/Gary Cantrel) is a full time professional race organizer. He put this together to replace income lost by having to cancel all his races this year.
Inside the race there actually is a lot of value for the runners. I don’t regret the $60 at all.
