Hello chattle!

So, what does anybody know about Gerhard Baier trombones and bass trombones? I heard from a friend in the retail business that these are made my Courtois, but I can't find much info at all. Any information would be neat. Thanks!

Bump - I'm very interested because I have an opportunity to buy one in the morning. If I don't hear back, I'll probably buy it. If I buy it, I'll report back on what I think of it.

I've never heard of them... that's not usually a good sign. Caveat Emptor

Never heard. Maybe a stencil from B&S?

I seem to recall seeing trumpets with this name. Made by B&S.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I saw that review. I saw how old it was and hoped for more recent perspective. I guess we'll see how it goes.

I found a post in the german trumpetforum saying that B&S marketed their challenger trumpets under the name Gerhard Baier in the US.. while still selling them as challenger aswell... Marketing can be a weird thing.. :shuffle:

But i can't say theres a wealth of information on the brand, even on german sites.. seems to be a pretty small brand, but some claims that the gerhard baier trumpets are all B&S stencils, aswell as models by Accent, F. Schmidt, and some by Courtois..

But i can't find a lead to trombones under that brand.

I would highly appreciate it if you could post some pictures!

Greetings from Germany,

I can tell you they are not made by Courtois, however they may be parts sold back in the day by Gerhard Meinl. That meaning before 2013.

Yes, I do now remember seeing a "Gerhard Baier" trumpet that was an obvious B&S Challenger I. That doesn't mean that B&S never stenciled other trumpet models as Baier"s. Other makers may have made them as well.

(I currently own an Allora trumpet that is the same B&S model. A very good horn.)

Small update. I got the horn yet and cleaned it thoroughly. I haven't played it yet, but it looks good and the mechanicals all seem good. I'll update soon.
