Edwards was not joking when they said it would take 8 months to deliver the 502i that I ordered. We are at 7.5 months.

Maybe they were joking, just not in the direction you're thinking. We'll know if you get to 10 months and are still waiting.

Friend of mine last year ordered a 1062 from them in March and I believe he received it in November. They're keeping themselves busy!

I haven’t seen many for sale used. They must really play well. I haven’t seen one around where I live, yet.

They really do play great, especially the 502i horns! I've tried a few of them, both the 502i and 502D, over the years.

The wait time is ridiculous though... I almost bought a 502D a few moons back but noped out when I was how long the wait time was and picked up a used Shires instead.

Edwards has a crazy wait time for some of their really popular and rarely made valve sets. I think it's due to them making stuff in batches.

It isn’t a huge deal. I have a very nice Greenhoe Edwards bass that I play on and a CRE that I use as a jazz horn.

Ah! I recognize you by your horns, you had those horns listed in your old profile  I didn't recognize your new handle. I remember when you posted the thread on the original Tromboneforums saying you were going to pick up a 502i!

When you receive the horn I'm very curious to hear your imperessions between your Greenhoe modified Edwards, CRE horn, and the 502i!

That CRE plays great. I have no doubt the 502i will exceed the CRE.

I have a 502D and I think you'll be happy. I am using a new Greenhoe but could easily live with just the Edwards.

Those new Greenhoes are great horns. My buddy just had a section built up around a Shires bell and he really sounds good. I was wondering how Shilke would approach building the Greenhoes (units vs. quality). Clearly they put craftsmanship as their primary goal.

The Greenhoe really is a fantastic horn. I went to Schilke with a friend so he could pick up a new flugel and played the Greenhoe and literally couldn't put it down.
