Adjusting 2nd rotor arm.

The 2nd rotor on my independent horn sticks out too far for me to activate with my middle finger. Can the arm be bent inward to make the instrument more ergonomic? I would never attempt it myself for fear I may break it off or do other damage. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

This should be an easy repair for any competent tech.

If you have an adjustable G-flat paddle (spatula), you might try moving it back towards the valve, or perhaps adjusting the angle.

I attempted to bend my Gb lever and it broke. The horn was a benge 290 and was impossible to find parts so my tech bent it to where i liked and silver soldered it back together.

Suggestion: Leave tech work to [qualified] techs! :idk:

It would probably save me a lot of money, but where’s the fun in that

The general rule is that you should remove the G-flat key to do any bending. It is a bit more time consuming, but will help prevent damage to the key and saddle. If you bend the key while it is attached to the saddle, my prediction would be that 1. The saddle could break off at the solder joint (many G-flat saddles have a very small solder surface area) or 2. You can sometimes bend the hinge screw, especially if if is brass. If you have no idea what I am talking about.....take it to a qualified tech.

If you need the 2nd rotor paddle adjusted to a specific location or height, you should assemble the horn in front of your tech and show her/him exactly where you want it. Every person has a different preference.
