Anyone know Harm Goeree, Netherlands

I’ve had an unfortunate exchange with a Dutch Scammer. Had great trombone knowledge, So I’m guessing he had some playing or at least dealing experience. Has taken payment but then not sent hardware.
Anyone know Harm Goeree, with Facebook profile Harm Jan Tineke,
I stupidly made a bank transfer. So my bad, the bank may manage to reclaim the funds and that’s being looked into now, but in the mean time does anyone know him.
Always a casino with internet dealings I know, and if I’m down on this one so be it, but. . . .
He’s now disappeared from my Facebook. Of course.
Any help gratefully received.

That’s scary. I talked to him about that duo gravis and was about to buy it but I got a kinda sketchy vibe that he wouldn’t take paypal so i just left him on read. Sorry that happened to you.

I go to Sluis a couple of times a year (though covid has made that impossible this year). Covid rules allowing I shall be there in February/March I could go and see if the address is legit if you like, but by then it will be far too late I suppose... Doug

It would help though, even with the timing.

I'll ask some musicians from that area if they know him.
kr,
Edit: you probably couldn't know this, but the telephone numbers is 1 digit too short to be a real Dutch phone number.

If you really want to go crazy, you can get his ip from the email he sent you. Unless he used a vpn, then you should be able to find where he sent that from.

Please could you let me know how to go about doing that? I’d be most grateful. . .

If you open an e-mail in a typical reader there should be an option to show either raw message (Yahoo Mail) or full header (many other mails). The full header will show sending IPs and mail servers as well as intermediate mail servers.
With Yahoo Mail the IP is right at the top of the raw message. With others you have to trace the track of send/receive to get the IP.
Once you have the IP you use a free program called WHOIS to identify the source of the IP. WHOIS will run in you browser.
Hope this helps. If you are like me you may need to do a little tinkering to get it to work.

I never do any international transactions by anything but PayPal. Regardless of their protestations, if they're in a First-World country, they can get and use PayPal,

I'd say this case disproves the truism, "No Harm, no foul."

Ok so he was too stupid to use a VPN.
What do you think is the best way to proceed. I’m in a chat with two others in exactly the same situation on Facebook, having paid for a cello and a sax.
Any advice gratefully received.

Which country are you in?
If it's a European country then report it to your countries cyber crimes unit, or get on a train and report it to at his local police station

In the UK. Reporting it here today, and will call Amsterdam police tomorrow.
Also, I have the building he was in or at least the internet he was connected to when he sent the email, which is Soliciters office. Will just call and ask to speak to him. See what happens.

Go for it. I think the call to the Dutch police would be a good one. Maybe they might call and ask questions since you now have so much information on him. We could ask Marcel Shott what he thinks, he's in the Nederlands and is co owner of a music shop in Amsterdam (and plays a mean bass trombone). If they werent on the 2 week isolation regiser I'd suggest we jumped in a car and paid him a visit if we could substantiate where he lives!
Keep us posted this is getting intriguing!!... Doug

Marcel Schot owns an music shop in Rijswijk (near The Hague).
Anyway, calling him or the Dutch police is always a good idea. But I expect the police will ask you to fill in some form online.

I’ve reported to the Uk police and just had a conversation with the Dutch police, but to report it there I have to actually walk into a Dutch police station or engage a lawyer to do it for me.
Or. . . Find someone Dutch who’s very kind to do it on my behalf.
The Slovakian chap who is also a victim of this scammer is in a slightly different position, and when his bank ask for the money back, if Rabobank say no, they will then share the details of the account holder apparently including his address. Which changes things slightly.
The Dutch bank have a couple of days left until this happens.
In the mean time, I need to find someone in Holland to help me.
One of the guys in my old orchestra in Porto still lives there I think. . . .

Hi Guys,
I reside in the Netherlands and speak fluent Dutch (consequences of marrying a dutch woman).
Sluis is a 90 minute drive from where I live so let me know if I can be of assistance..... Possibly the best thing to do is for me to contact the police to gather information regarding what are the options open regarding getting this guy!!
I suspect the plaintiff would need to make a complaint the police online regarding fraud.
Conn88hagmann I'll send you a PB with my personal details.

Hagmann, hello. I am not a trombone player. I"m a sax player. i joined this group specifically to contact you. How did i find you? Simple: I typed in the name Harm Goeree, Netherlands and this thread came up. I recently got scammed by this guy, in the last month on two saxophones and a fake VAT (value added tax) to the tune of $3182 US dollars. I have already filed a report with the FBI. The account that he sent you was the exact account that I also was foolish enough to wire money to. <LINK_TEXT text="https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#searc ... Please feel free to contact me at
I live in the united states. Perhaps if enough of us ban together we can bring this guy down.

The alleged scammer can read this as easily as anybody else - please consider this before posting updates, particularly "next steps".

I doubt that. He's probably counting his money and buying a plane ticket to the Bahamas. :frown:
He has as much compassion as our Bone Spurs in Chief.

Sorry for all your misfortunes!
I am Dutch, just reading this now, and I was wondering if there are any updates. I know the Dutch police won't investigate much if it doesn't concern large amounts of money or just a single case. (Don't ask me how I know  ) There is an online platform where you can report online fraud, but you have to be Dutch to be able to use it.
With all the cases combined: you might have a chance. I'm guessing there's quite some money involved.
His addresses are all fake, no doubt about that. He did give you his bank account number, so the police should be able to get his real address, I think. But with all the rules about privacy, I'm not even sure.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Maybe I could be of any help.

Pity!
I've been scammed once and never got my money back. It wasn't much and the police decided that they dropped the case without any research. That's because of the smaller amount and probably because I was the only one scammed by this person. Too small a case to waste time on apparently.
The banks in the Netherlands are pretty clear about this: if you sent the money yourself, they cannot help you getting it back. They will only block the bank account to keep the owner from committing more crimes. They work together with the police in this and if the police and the court decide that you have a right to get back your money, the banks might be able to help. Even though I'm not sure about that. It could be that you'd have to get bailiffs involved.
Do let me know if I can do anything for any of you!

Inexplicably, I have had £700 returned to my bank account this week.
The police don’t seem to know why. (Dutch) but, something has worked!
Thanks so much Neil!
