It's hard to tell, but surely that's just a knockoff made by a company in the Far East?

I don't think it worked out well. Hence "Bugles calling from sad shires."

I just realized, Chris is from the UK. Wouldn't the phrase be "Have Shires Diversified?"

Similar to "Gryffindor Win!"

It looks like their design process has gone right down the toilet...

Or maybe they've found a niche in the market so brass players can empty their water safely...soon they'll be found in every practise/concert venue in the world!

Depends on whether you're talking about S. E. Shires Co. or Steve Shires.

I think there's an excellent opportunity to make a snide comment about how this image relates to the fact that Steve is now making French horns. But I'm not going to stoop to that level. I'm just going to plant the idea so that the rest of you can.

[quote="noordinaryjoe"]Might be a trend, looks like they are following the natural progression of American Standard:

How 'bout the band Toto?

From http://totoofficial.com/ to https://www.totousa.com/products/toilets

(truth be told, Toto USA makes a quality product that performs a necessary function)

The funny thing about most of these japanese toilets is that, despite all the space age design that goes into them and the slick features like bidets and heated seats, they follow two basic and flawed philosophies:

1. The most common design I've seen has you dropping your bomb onto a wide, flat porcelain shelf and not into the water. No splashback, but a giant hash mark is left and the toilet is never smart enough to clean itself...

2. The other design has you firing into the deepest toilet bowl you've ever seen, directly into the water. The splashback from your bomb falling nearly a meter straight down into deep water is incredible, and honestly makes the washlet function seem redundant.

The heated seats are nice though. I bet Shires doesn't have those

Do you want to under invest in the device that removes crap from your house? This is not a place where I cut corners.

Ask a plumber what kind of toilet they have in their own house. That's how I first heard of Toto (the toilet, not the band).

I remember hearing a story that Louis Armstrong was visiting Giardinelli to have him make him a mouthpiece and pointed to the toilet seat in Giardinelli’s bathroom as the template for the rim contour.

I think I'll start putting a hinge on my rims instead of threads.
