Hi,

I’ve been seeing some used/vintage Getzen mouthpieces for sale lately (or maybe I am just noticing them) that look identical to Marcinkiewicz blanks.. did Marcinkiewicz ever make mouthpieces for Getzen? If so, how do they compare to true Marcs?

Thanks,

Ian

Yes, Marcinkiewicz did make mouthpiece for Getzen in the mid-80’s. My understanding was that they were Getzen cup and rim designs made in our exterior shape. The 6C was the most common of these.

There are also Marcinkiewicz made Jupiter mouthpieces out there as well.

King was making mouthpieces of that shape before there was a Joe Marcinkiewicz.

There's some resemblance between the very late Olds mouthpieces and the Marcinkiewicz style blank - but I think that's a matter of some common design heritage.

Thanks, Grahambone! I also had a customer bring in a Getzen trumpet with what I assumed to be a Marcinkiewicz, and was surprised to read ‘Getzen’ on the side.
