Look for a new model (Kanstul 1662) in this style available next year from a premier US maker, built exclusively for The Horn Guys.

Interesting. Steve is very good at eyeing great new products.

Curious to see how this develops... On a somewhat related note, I noticed that Cannonball Musical Instruments appears to be using the CR valve on their large tenor (don't know how recent this is). Wasn't the CR valve a Kanstul invention? Or am I remembering wrong?

It certainly looks like one, but most of that is just the valve cap. IMO it looks a little small to be a real CR or copy.

Cannonball is a new name to me. Does anyone here own one or play one? :idk:

They've been around for a long time, making saxophones primarily.

My friend had a Cannonball trumpet. He used to be happy with it but his preferences have changed for some reason.
Last I heard, he sold it or something and he's on an Olds Ambassador until he can find another trumpet he likes.

Cannonball makes very good saxes. And they have done many things their own way - instead of just copying Selmer Paris like everyone else.

Can attest to the quality of Cannonball saxes. Almost bought one of their altos back when I played sax regularly. Their trombones had a really long development cycle from what I understand. They were showing them off in videos back in like 2015 but didn't sell them until 2018 I believe.
