Alright weird question. I got a conn 71h with a serial number N00000 from my old neighbor which to my knowledge dates the horn in the 70s. It came with a Bach 3g, Bach 1g and a Remington 3. I was just curious, does anyone elses bach 1g from the time feel so light? I measured it on the kitchen scale and it's 104 grams, it's easily the lightsst bass piece I own besides the kelly. Anyone elses this light or is something up with mine and yes, the bachs wobble in the conn but not my modern horns

Not a weird question at all. It's because Bach use tenor blanks for the bass mouthpieces resulting in lightweight bass pieces with very narrow rims which are uncomfortable to many players.

Bach pieces have Morse tapered shank while vintage large-bore Conns have Remington tapered shank, thus the wobble.

1G from any age is almost scary light. Just not a lot of meat left after they have been hogged out.

Just a little less cup and throat would improve the 1G in so many ways!
